NEW Belgian Road Toll: satellite-based tolling system (from April, 2016)

As of April 2016, ViaPass will substitute the Eurovignette in Belgium. The satellite-based road tolling system for trucks with over 3.5 tones gross weight will be implemented and operated by Satellic NV, on behalf of the Belgian public agency ViaPass.

Tolls will be charged on all motorways and major roads in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels. These charges will apply to both domestic and foreign trucks. It is expected that rates will differ according to the environmental standards of the vehicle and local and regional circumstances. The precise tariffs have not yet been determined.
While on-board units in the German Toll-Collect-System may only be installed by certified workshops, the Satellic system will allow the driver to set up the system himself. OBUs will be available in Belgium, at distribution points and per mail distribution in case of online registration. Statoil Fuel & Retail will offer access to the Belgian tolled road system via the Statoil EUROPE card and an online registration portal for customers will be available soon- expected already in February. More information will follow soon.
